On the Wireless
On the Wireless will be a five-part audio documentary series produced by Tadhg Ó Meachair and Joanna Hyde highlighting various components of Cork County Council’s Creativity in Older Age programme.
Episodes shall each be 20-30 minutes, focusing on projects including the Arts for Health Bringing Art Home and Museum of Song Postal Project; Michelle Collins’ journey through the ritual of lament and caoineadh project at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice; Jimmy Crowley and Eve Telford’s care home concert tour with a special focus on the Skibbereen Residential Care Centre & Retirement Village; the Cork County Council Mobile Library unit; and the Cork Dresser Project with Michael Fortune.
On the Wireless will draw on extensive interviews and informal chats with participants, artists, programme coordinators and staff, and other relevant individuals encountered throughout the fieldwork.
The series will feature these recorded reminiscences, experiences, discussions, stories, and folklore, thematically interlaced with excerpts from the aforementioned projects, as well as related poetry, spoken word, soundscapes, and traditional music along with newly composed music by Tadhg and Joanna.
