Repair Acts, Ireland: Online storytelling workshops

A series of online storytelling workshops are being hosted under the Repair Acts Creative Climate Action project for the following dates in February:

  • Wed 9th 7-9pm
  • Sat 12th 11am-1pm
  • Wed 16th 7-9pm
  • Sat 19th 11am-1pm

These online storytelling workshops will see people bring along an object or send a picture of objects they have repaired, have failed to repair or wish to repair. People can have 1-3 objects and participants will share their story of the objects. There will then be the opportunity to have a discussion around past repair practices and the future of repair.

Although the repair repository is not yet active (it will be on the Repair Acts website in March), it is intended to collect the photos and share stories told during these workshops, that will be uploaded to the repository and contribute to the aim of 1,000 stories of repair. This will supplement the online repository with workshops to support conversations about this important topic. All most welcome.

One of 15 Creative Climate Action fund projects, Repair Acts, Ireland is a collaborative exploration of what artist and researcher Teresa Dillon calls “repair cultures” and their role in consumption, consumerism, and recycling of materials. Repair Acts, Ireland builds on an existing international practice-based research programme that explores repair cultures in a pluralistic and collective manner, of which Dillon leads and co-founded.

Registration for the workshops is via Eventbrite: See www.repairacts.ie
